部活 Bukatsu — Same group, every week. That consistency builds something no single session can: a team that self-corrects. Players spot mistakes and fix them peer to peer. Weakness becomes a team problem — adapted around, covered, eliminated together. The coach guides. The group corrects. Repetition does the rest.

The Method

MORE TOUCHES.

The smaller court, heavier ball and faster pace of futsal force quicker decisions and far more touches per session than outdoor soccer (English FA). Futsal is the training method — outdoor soccer is where the results show up.

部活 Bukatsu

SAME GROUP.
EVERY WEEK.

Players train together long enough to spot mistakes peer to peer, cover each other's weaknesses, and adapt as a unit. The coach guides. The group corrects. The habit of showing up builds skill and character.

Why Samurai Seven

Built for both worlds

We operate at the intersection of two football cultures. That depth is what makes us different.

Bilingual, on the ground

Full communication in Japanese for players and parents, with pickup, supervision and personal support here in Perth.

Licensed coaches, real results

Taka, Kaito, Yudai and guest coaches — all licensed, with real playing and futsal experience. Our players go on to represent at state level and compete in the JDL.

Football first

Every program is built around real development — not tourism with a kick around. Opportunities come from genuinely improving, from local courts to Japanese club trials.

What to Expect

We won't guarantee a level or a selection — anyone who does isn't being honest. A player is built by our coaching, their effort, and support at home.

Progress isn't linear

Skill develops in jumps and plateaus, not a straight line. Two players in the same sessions can progress at very different rates — and that's completely normal.

Effort decides the outcome

The players who improve fastest show up consistently, practise between sessions, and bring focus. We can guide and push — we can't do the work for them.

Home support matters

Encouragement, consistent attendance, and patience from parents make a real difference. We're with you every step, and always happy to talk through your player's journey.

Annual Schedule

Common Questions

FAQ

Anything not answered here — reach out directly.

Why do you train futsal if the goal is outdoor soccer?

Futsal is one of the most effective tools ever developed for accelerating outdoor soccer ability. The smaller court, heavier ball, and faster pace force players to make quicker decisions, execute under pressure, and take far more touches per session than they would in a standard outdoor game. Spain, Brazil, and Japan all use futsal as a core pillar of their national development systems — it's a major reason their players consistently perform at the highest levels. We use it the same way: futsal is the training method, outdoor soccer is where the results show up.

What is the bukatsu philosophy?

Bukatsu (部活) is Japan's school club culture — students commit to a club, train regularly, and build skill and character through sustained effort as a group. It's not about one session; it's about the habit of showing up. Samurai Seven is built on that principle: fixed group, weekly sessions, year-round commitment.

How do the Beginner and Advanced groups work?

Beginner and Advanced aren't a ranking — they're two parts of one system, designed to work together. Beginner sessions involve more explanation, individual correction, and patient skill-building, which takes more of the coach's time and is reflected in the $30/session rate. Advanced sessions move at pace in a high-intensity group environment, at $20/session. Placement is decided by our coaches based on what each player needs at the time, so it can flex: an advanced player going through a dip in form may be moved onto beginner-level fundamentals to rebuild, and a beginner who's progressing well may be stepped up. These calls are always made by the coaches using their professional judgement, as part of developing the complete player.

What age groups do you take?

We work with U12 through U15 age groups. Get in touch and we'll let you know straight away if the program is the right fit for your player's age and level.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?

No. Balls and training equipment are provided. Bring futsal shoes (no studs — we train indoors), shin pads, training clothes, and water.

Is Japanese spoken at sessions?

Yes. We operate bilingually — full Japanese language support is available for players and parents throughout every program. This also makes us the natural choice for Japanese families in Perth and for players coming from Japan.

Is there a trial session?

Yes — we encourage prospective players to come along for a trial before committing. Reach out via Instagram or email and we'll arrange it around the next available Sunday session.

How many spots are available per session?

Sessions are capped at 15 players. Large groups of 8 or more are very welcome — get in touch and we'll arrange a dedicated slot. For smaller enquiries, once a session is full we hold a waitlist, so reach out early.

How quickly will my child improve?

Every child is different, and progress looks different for everyone. We provide the coaching, the proven method, and a supportive environment every week — and the players who grow the most are usually the ones who stay consistent, bring a positive attitude, practise between sessions, and are encouraged at home. Development is genuinely a partnership between the player, the family, and us. We're always happy to chat about your child's individual progress and what they can focus on next.
